Los Angeles, CA & Rancho Mirage, CA (Sept. 3, 2024) – Mobilize Recovery, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering communities of recovery, and the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation—the nation's leading nonprofit system of addiction treatment, mental health care, recovery resources, and related prevention and education services—are thrilled to announce two special events to celebrate National Recovery Month and honor Hazelden Betty Ford's 75th anniversary

The Mobilize Recovery Across America 2024 Launch Event on Friday, Sept. 20 at Friendship Auditorium in Los Angeles will be a powerful evening filled with inspiration, community connection, and celebration. Starting at 6 p.m., the event will also serve as the official send-off for Mobilize Recovery's nationwide bus tour, a journey across the country to raise awareness, provide resources, and advocate for change. A day later, on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 11:30 a.m., the Mobilize Recovery Across America Bus Tour will make its first stop in Rancho Mirage, CA, home to the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation's world-renowned Betty Ford Center.

Sept. 20 Los Angeles Launch Event Highlights

  • Empowering Stories: Hear from Hollywood icon Danny Trejo and other inspiring individuals who have overcome addiction.
  • Musical Inspiration: Enjoy a special performance by American Idol winner Noah Thompson.
  • Community Celebration: Connect with and hear from a diverse group of organizations and leaders dedicated to recovery, including a group from Hazelden Betty Ford.
  • Bus Tour Send-Off: Witness the launch of a cross-country journey to empower communities, engage policymakers, and build a stronger recovery movement.

Sept. 21 Betty Ford Center Tour Stop Highlights

  • Public Proclamation: Hear from Rancho Mirage Mayor Steve Downs as he proclaims "Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation Day" in honor of the Foundation's 75th anniversary and the enduring legacy of former First Lady Betty Ford, a pioneering advocate for addiction recovery.
  • Interactive Activities: Sign the Mobilize Recovery Tour Bus. Enjoy games, music, food and fellowship.
  • Day of Service: Bring diapers, baby wipes, and formula to donate to the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission's Women's & Children's Shelter, as well as non-perishable food items (i.e. rice, beans, canned vegetables) to donate to Martha's Village & Kitchen. This coincides with Mobilize Recovery Day of Service events taking place throughout National Addiction and Mental Health Recovery Month.
  • Inspiring Stories and Valuable Resources: Hear the experience, strength and hope of local recovery community members. Learn about naloxone and many other resources for individuals and families.

The free, family-friendly community celebration in Rancho Mirage will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the campus of the Betty Ford Center (39407 Vista Del Sol). It is open to all area residents including those in recovery, those with loved ones in recovery, those in need of treatment and those wanting to know more about recovery and available resources.
