Do I need an IOP program? How to tell?

You could start by considering whether your alcohol or drug use is contributing to difficulties you're experiencing, such as relationship problems, emotional or mental health struggles, performance issues at work or health complications. These are signs that your substance use could be affecting your ability to cope or function well—and that you might benefit from treatment.

Please reach out to our dual diagnosis treatment center with your questions. A Hazelden Betty Ford care navigator with talk with you confidentially and at no cost to help assess your situation, answer your questions about addiction and treatment, and discuss the types of behavioral health care services we offer in Washington.

Why do you have a specialized day treatment program for trauma and addiction?

Trauma and addiction are closely linked, and the most-effective treatment addresses all the complexities, all together. Our Bellevue outpatient clinic specializes in evidence-based treatment for co-occurring substance use and trauma conditions.

Day treatment provides you with the most-intensive outpatient level of care. The program combines:

  • Education on symptoms and effects of trauma exposure
  • Skill-building to strengthen emotion regulation, resilience and relapse prevention
  • Helpful insights about sleep, nutrition, relationships, medication management and safety strategies

Many of our clinicians hold dual credentials as certified alcohol and drug counselors and as licensed mental health professionals.

What's involved in the DUI deferred prosecution program?

If you've recently been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) in the State of Washington and are working with an attorney, you may be considering a deferred prosecution addiction treatment program. This type of treatment program typically involves intensive outpatient services or other outpatient rehab programming along with monthly monitoring groups, individual therapy and counseling. Hazelden Betty Ford can provide you with an assessment to help you determine your best course of treatment.

Offering both virtual and in-person addiction treatment options, Hazelden Betty Ford's Bellevue center meets the Washington State DUI Deferred Prosecution requirements. If you opt for deferred prosecution, our rehab team is experienced in the program's requirements and will work with you closely, from first assessment through program completion.

Does Hazelden Betty Ford provide detox services at Bellevue?

We do not provide drug or alcohol detox services at our outpatient clinic, but our inpatient treatment centers in Oregon (near Portland), California (near Palm Springs) and Minnesota (near St. Paul-Minneapolis) have fully staffed medical units for detoxification services.

Given the unpredictable and potentially severe reactions to alcohol/drug withdrawal, it's important to seek out medical advice about the detoxification process. Detox services are often required before starting an addiction rehab program because the process eases the discomfort of withdrawal symptoms and reduces drug cravings so you can focus your mind and energy on treatment.

Does telehealth or virtual treatment work for addiction?

Virtual care provides access to treatment to more people than ever, even improving participation rates for some patients because attendance is so convenient.

Hazelden Betty Ford's virtual intensive outpatient treatment program (IOP) could be a great fit if you have mobility or accessibility challenges or you aren't located near our Seattle area treatment facility.
